Kerala has a rich
tradition in ancient performance arts and martial arts.
Typical dance forms have evolved over time to express the
outlook of the people and reflect the culture of the area.
Kerala offers beautiful beaches, the intrigue of the

Ghats, the adventure of wildlife sanctuaries and a great
variety of distinctive cultural customs, art forms and
festivals. At Ideal Ayurvedic Resort we have the knowledge and
contacts to help you make the most of your stay in Kerala.

Kathakali |
 |
Kathakali is
Kerala's most refined and sophisticated dance drama,
dating back 1500 years. Stories selected from the epics
and mythologies are acted out through mime and the use of
hand gestures, eye movements and complicated dance
routines. The characters of the stories are brought to
life with elaborate costumes and masks. |
|
Mohiniyattom |
 |
Mohiniyattom is
another typical dance form with distinctive costumes and
make-up. Literally the name means 'the dances of the
enchantress' and the form has been developed to a level of
artistic perfection in the Kalamandalam area in
particular. |

Kalaripayattu |
 |
Kalaripayattu is
believed to be one of the oldest, and most comprehensive,
scientific systems of martial art training existing in the
world today. Kalaripayattu is an ancient martial art form
of Kerala and it truly deserves the title of 'forerunner
of all the martial arts'. |
